Frances ‘Fran’ Louise Shreve Mosser

Fran was born on Monday, July 1, 1935, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Fred Shreve and Bessie Vanpelt Shreve. She was married to Sterl Mosser, who preceded her in death, Nov. 7, 1968, she had never remarried.

Left to cherish her memory are nephews, Rob and wife, Sara, Rick, Peanut and wife, Mary; niece and caregiver, Tonya Winans; great-nephews and nieces, Erik, Dylan, Kylee and Frankie; great-great-nieces, Adrianna, Amaya, and Londyn; and a great-great nephew on the way.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband was her daughter, Cheryl Diane Gray; one nephew, Roger; five siblings, Harold, Junior, Wilbur, Mary and Lucille.

Fran was a 1953 graduate of Elkins High School. She worked as a hairdresser at Terrano’s in Elkins. She then moved to Cheyene, Wyoming, and had her own hair salon in the basement of her house. In 2002, she moved to Orlando, Florida, to be with her daughter. Fran worked for Walt Disney World until her retirement in 2010. She then moved back to Elkins in December of 2010 following the death of her only child.

Fran enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She was an excellent cook; she even made dinner for Tonya last night. Fran was a devout Christian who loved to attend church and Bible study when she was able. She was a Baptist by faith and a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Elkins.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2026, from 11 a.m. until noon, at which time the casket will remain closed. A funeral service will be conducted at noon. Rev. Dr. Kenneth P. Shiflet will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
