George Jonathan ‘Bud’ Freeman

Mr. George Jonathan “Bud” Freeman, 87, a resident of Belington and more recently of the Stonehaven Personal Care Home in Belington, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Feb. 4, 2025, in the care facility. Death was following an extended illness.
On April 20, 1937, he was born at Moatsville, West Virginia, a son of the late Coda Ray and Hazel Moore Freeman.
On Nov. 22, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Sandra Raye Biller, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Kent Ray Freeman and wife, Kristie, of Belington; two brothers, Richard Freeman and Sam Freeman and wife, Lou; four grandchildren, David Freeman, Cota Knicely, Kyler Knicely and Colton Knicely; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Deanna Joy Knicely; five brothers, Herbert, Tom, Raymon, Paul and Kenneth Freeman; and five sisters, Doris Streets, Betty Frey, Juanita Freeman, Anna Lou Shaw and Colleen Frey.
Bud attended the Schools of Barbour County and was an avid farmer and fisherman. He formerly worked out of the Laborer’s Union in Clarksburg, but lastly was employed by the Barbour County School System as a school bus driver, from which he retired. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Gary Freeman officiating.
Honoring Bud’s request, cremation will follow and his cremains will be interred in the Central Chapel Church Cemetery at a later date.
