Gregory Randall Phillips, 63, a resident of White Oak Community, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Greg was born Oct. 22, 1961, in West Palm Beach, Florida, a son of William “Bill” and Elizabeth “Liz” (Bice) Phillips.
Greg was united in marriage to Brandi Michelle (Hayes) Phillips.
Greg retired from the WV Department of Highways in 2018 with 28 years of service. He was a 1980 graduate of Philip Barbour High School. Greg enjoyed his passion for farming. He enjoyed watching the WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Greg often looked forward to the yearly beach trips with his sons and growing his pumpkin patch with his grandson Mason.
Greg is survived by his mother, Elizabeth “Liz” Phillips; wife, Brandi Phillips; children, Logan and Garrett Phillips, Paige Gum and spouse, Tyler, of East Dailey, and Brandon Pritt and spouse, Brooke, of Mill Creek; grandchildren, Mason Gum and Sadie Pritt; brother, E. Lynn Phillips and spouse, Shelby, of White Oak Community; brothers-in-law, Jason Hayes of Georgia, Frankie Hayes and spouse, Lyn, of Virginia; also, several nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Phillips; and mother-in-law, Kathy Swecker.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Elkins “Elks” Babe Ruth c/o Steve Schumacher 416 Maple Lane Elkins, WV 26241.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 220 N. Walnut St., Philippi, on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, Feb. 24, from 11a.m. – 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., from the funeral home chapel, with Speaker Benny McLean officiating.
