SIMMONS
Jimmie Jo Simmons, 73, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Nella’s at Autumn Lake Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Elkins, a daughter of the late James and Monna Nelson Triplett.
On Oct. 25, 1969, at Saint Brendan Catholic Church in Elkins, she married Alan L. Simmons, who survives in Elkins.
Together, they have two children, Douglas Simmons and wife, Crissy, of Elkins, West Virginia, and Stephanie Long and husband, Chris, of Buckhannon, West Virginia.
One granddaughter, Madolyn Long; one brother, David Triplett and wife, Elka, of Eleanor, West Virginia; sister-in-law, Carol Triplett; and brother-in-law, Mick Weese both of Elkins, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William, Wayne, Sydney and John; and sisters, Loretta Byrd, Drexie Conoly, Dottie Cromer and Tammy Weese.
“JJ”, as she was known to her family and friends, attended the schools of Randolph County and was a waitress in several restaurants in Elkins, including the Tygart Hotel. She enjoyed cooking, camping and spending time with her family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Albert Brown will officiate and interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to your local animal shelter in memory of “JJ’s” love for animals.
The family would like thank the staff at Nella’s at Autumn Lake for the excellent care provided to Jimmie.
