Kathryn Lovada ‘Katie’ Howes

Kathryn Lovada “Katie” Howes, 79, a resident of Kingsville, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Care Facility at Buckhannon, West Virginia.
She was born Feb. 28, 1945, at Jimtown, a daughter of the late Fred W. Elmore and Gladys Cutright Elmore.
On March 17, 1962, at Ellamore, she was married to Roy A. Howes, who survives.
They were united in marriage by Rev. Glen Phillips.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark A. Howes and wife, Joan, of Belington, and Michael W. Howes of Beverly; two daughters, Victoria D. Howes of Kingsville, West Virginia, and Cynthia L. Fletcher and husband, Lee, of Kingsville, West Virginia; and two sisters, Jeanie Merritt of Beverly and Joy Bender of Kingsville, West Virginia; eight grandchildren, Ashley Howes Barker and husband, Brad, and their five children of Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, Laura Howes, Samantha Howes, and Nathan Howes, all of Beverly, Jillian Josimovich of Sebring, Florida, Natalie Josimovich, Dylan Fletcher and fiance, Alicia Bennett, and Megan Fletcher, all of Kingsville, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Donovan Howes, Jaxson Murray, Dylan II and Sylas Fletcher, Mylah Fletcher and Myles Moreland.
Also preceding her in death were her beloved son, Roy A. Howes Jr. in 1988; six brothers, Harley, Bill, John, Carl, Ray and Bobby Neal Elmore Sr.; and five sisters, Lorraine Wolfe, Loretta Phillips, Willa Mae “Shorty” Bibey, Shirley Bodkin and Rosalie Miller.
Katie attended the Fairhope, Norton and Coalton schools. She had worked at Reidbord Brothers Company and Family Health Services of Elkins and later had owned and operated, with her husband, a personal care home for many years until their retirement. She attended the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church at Jimtown, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years and more recently attended the Sand Run Baptist Church at Excelsior, West Virginia.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Greg Miller officiating.
Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown, West Virginia.
