TURNER
Lawrence Turner, 93, of Elyria, Ohio, left this earth to be with the Lord, Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, in Ohio.
He was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Onega, West Virginia, to Gladys and Ulysses Turner.
From 1948-1951, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Lawrence was a 32nd degree mason and a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors after 36 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mona (nee Woods); sons, Lawrence Jr. (Beverly) of Elkins, West Virginia, and Stanley Turner of Elyria; daughter, Denise (Pete) Compher of Stephens City, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry and Larry Turner; and sisters, Leah Woods and Dottie Hawley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Gladys Turner; brother, Jerl Turner; sisters, Shirley Kauffman and Rheba Bennett; and a grandchild.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, from the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia, where presentation of the American flag will be made by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program.
