HINCHMAN
Mary Ellen Hinchman, 92, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, in the Davis Medical Center.
She was born April 8, 1932, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Edgar and Lillie Rhodes Taylor. On June 2, 1950, at Oakland, Marland, she was married to George Dale Hinchman, who preceded her death Nov. 15, 2016.
She is survived by two sons, G. Michael Hinchman and wife, Sharon Stemple Hinchman, of Elkins, and Neil P. Hinchman and wife, Lori Rufner Hinchman, of Milton, West Virginia; one daughter, Cheryl Hinchman Wyatt of South Charleston, West Virginia; and daughter-in-law, Shelly Lytle Hinchman of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
Six grandchildren, Justin Robert Hinchman of Bel Air, Maryland, Lauren Ashley Hinchman Funderbunk and husband, David, of Falling Waters, West Virginia, Kristin Lee Stemple Hinchman of Morgantown, West Virginia, Andrew Michael Stemple Hinchman of Elkins, Brooke Ann Hinchman of Huntington, West Virginia, and Clay Paul Hinchman of Milton, West Virginia; and four great-grandchildren, Graysin Paul Hinchman of Huntington, West Virginia, Adam Kenneth Funderbunk of Falling Waters, West Virginia, Ella Grace Funderbunk of Falling Waters, West Virginia, and Meridith Lynn Hinchman of Bel Air, Maryland, also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Wilson Hinchman.
Mary was a graduate of Elkins High School and had worked at the Elkins Hecks Store and was the first female supervisor of the sporting goods department at the Elkins Walmart prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Joy Circle of the church. She enjoyed photography and working in her yard. She was a great lover of animals.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Edin officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road.
