Paul ‘Slugger’ Brady Jr.
BRADY
On this day Feb. 20, 2025, Paul “Slugger” Brady Jr., of Mill Creek, went to be with his Heavenly Father.
He was born June 15, 1954, in Elkins, to the late Paul Brady Sr. and Lois (Shrock) Brady.
On Nov. 10, 1972, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Debra (Channell) Brady. They were married 52 years.
Also surviving are three wonderful children, Paul Brady III (Janice) of Valley Head, Tonya Brady Taylor (Billie) of Orma, West Virginia, and Jessica “Jessy” Brady of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Jason Brady (Selina) of Germany, Jayme Artrip (Derek) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Dillon Lewis and companion, Kayla, and son, Colson of Elkins, Dustyn Ware (Lakota) of Orma, West Virginia, Paul “PJ” Brady IV is in the Army, Kayla Ware of Calhoun County, West Virginia, Brady Radcliffe and Daniel “D” Radcliffe of Virginia and Wyatt Oak; and great- grandchildren, Ally, Annie and Elyse Artrip, Summer Lewis-Smith and a great grandson on the way, Ezra Cain Radcliffe.
Also surviving are two brothers, Daniel Brady of Huttonsville (Becky) and Mark Brady (Tammy) of Valley Bend; three sisters, Maggie Bennett (Mike) of Dailey, Toni Kenney and Cathy Swecker of Tennessee.
Also preceding him in death in addition to his parents was one brother, David Brady.
He graduated from Tygarts Valley High School and graduated from the WV State Policy Academy and attended college classes at Boulder, Colorado. Slugger was an outstanding law enforcement officer. He started as the Policeman for the Town of Mill Creek and then Deputy for the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office for 20-plus years. He was also the Sheriff of Randolph County for eight years. He was presented several awards, Policy Officer of the Year several times and 40/8 Award from the American Legion. He was a member of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association.
He was definitely the greatest man alive. One of the strongest ever known and the most generous. He was such a loving, forgiving, caring person. We will never forget the way he could charm a room and the way he made friends everywhere he went. His personality was larger than life.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Paul Brady III officiating.
Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
