Vieva M. ‘Vickie’ Ward

Vieva M. “Vickie” Ward, 73, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 15, 2025, in Mansfield Place at Philippi, West Virginia.
She was born Feb. 18, 1951, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Howard Fansler and the late Edith Lunsford Fansler.
On Nov. 21, 1970, in Elkins, she was married to Charles S. “Charlie” Ward, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving is one son, Charles S. “Chuck” Ward II and wife, Christine, of Elkins.
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Howard, Evertt and William Fansler; and a sister, Betty Fansler Gear.
Vickie attended the schools of Randolph County and was homemaker. She was a member and Past President of the Beverly Elementary School PTA and a member of the Beverly Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Vickie was a devout Christian, serving as an elder in the Beverly Presbyterian Church as well as singing in the church choir. As a wife, mother and friend, she will be sorely missed.
She made many friends while residing at Mansfield Place in Philippi. “Vickie couldn’t walk but now she can run.”
Vickie’s request for cremation was honored.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at the Ward Family Cemetery on the Ward Road near Elkins.
Pastor Julie Davis will officiate and inurnment of the cremains will follow.
The family request contributions be made to Mansfield Place, 5 Healthcare Drive, Philippi, WV 26416 in memory of Vickie.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Vieva M. “Vickie” Ward.
