Cary Wayne Beasley

Cary Wayne Beasley, 52, of Coalton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 6, 2025, following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1973, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Cary was the son of the late Cannie Wayne Beasley and Jacqueline Ann Wetzel of Elkins.

He attended school in Fort Walton Beach before moving to Montrose, West Virginia, in his teenage years, where he graduated from Elkins High School in 1991. After high school, Cary enlisted in the Army National Guard and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he worked in various fields including construction, truck driving and paving.

He married Angie Shiflett and together they had a daughter, Emily.

Cary was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his early 20s and fought the disease with incredible strength and perseverance. Despite the challenges, he continued to live with dignity, and in 2009, he moved into Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, where he received exceptional care for the remainder of his life.

Cary is preceded in death by his father, Cannie Wayne Beasley; and his step-father, John L. Wetzel. He is survived by his daughter, Emily; and granddaughter, Lilliana; his mother, Jacqueline (Jackie) Wetzel; two sisters, Kimberly Swecker (Matt) of Beverly, West Virginia, and Rebecca Chance (Jay) of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; one nephew, Anthony Winn (Kaitlyn); and three nieces, Gracie, Evie and Posey.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Cravensdale, with Dr. Kenneth Shiflet officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Interment will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center, 2533 Beverly Pike, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Cary and in recognition of the compassionate care provided to Cary during his final years. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Cary Wayne Beasley.
