DOLLY
Irene Mae Dolly, 90, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Cortland Acres Health & Rehabilitation at Thomas, West Virginia, with her family by her side. She was born Nov. 16, 1934, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Burton A. Kirkpatrick and Pauline Carr Kirkpatrick.
On Aug. 16, 1953, at Cumberland, Maryland, she was married to Hilbert E. Dolly, who survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Sandra P. Shifflett and husband, Gary, of Elkins; two sons, Ronald R. Dolly and wife, Debbie, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia, and Patrick W. Dolly and wife, Tracy, of Viola, Delaware; one sister, Wilma Davis of Elkins; six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents were one brother, Arthur Kirkpatrick; and one grandson, Jacob L. Shifflett.
Irene was a homemaker, and in her younger years she loved to hunt and fish with her soulmate, Hilbert. She enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting, oil painting, playing softball and spending time with family.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor James Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Cortland Acres, Attn: Marie Grafton, 39 Cortland Acres Lane, Thomas, WV 26292 in memory of Irene.
