Neil J. Summerfield, 82, a resident of Beverly, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
He was born Oct. 4, 1942 at Wymer, West Virginia, a son of the late Alvin R. and Pheobe M. Elza Summerfield.
On July 4, 1998, he married Carolyn Gross, who survives at Beverly. Also surviving are two sons, John Summerfield of Buckhannon and Chris Summerfield of Philippi; two daughters, Wendy Deschenes and husband, Mark, of Florida and Donna Rutter and husband, Matt, of Elkins. Seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
Neil was a crane operator at Elkins Iron and Metal prior to his retirement. He attended the First Baptist Church of Elkins. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel. Pastor Roy Waybright will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery near Beverly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Neil.
