Vera ‘Lucille’ Harper Barb

Vera "Lucille" Harper Barb, 96 years, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025, at the West Virginia Caring Hospice Center at Elkins, West Virginia, with her loving family at her side.

She was born Sunday, Sept. 23, 1928, at Ellamore, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dee Willie Harper and Mary Elizabeth Burke Harper.

On Sept. 20, 1947, at Elkins, West Virginia, she was married to Hayward Harding Barb, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Douglas Harper Barb of Elkins; two daughters, Crystal Flo Barb of Elkins and Dee Dee Ellen Barb of Elkins; three grandchildren, Kurtanna Pruitt of Elkins, Michelle Sailsbury and husband, Tommy, of Elkins, and Jessica Barb of Elkins; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are one son, Jay Michael Barb.

Lucille was a graduate of Elkins High School and worked as a telephone operator for C & P Telephone Company and later as the owner and operator of Barb's Laundromat for 35 years.

She enjoyed bowling in various bowling leagues for over forty years, and was active with the Randolph County Senior Center over 20 years, and was active in the Homemakers Club. She was a member of the West Virginia Antique Automobile Club and enjoyed the car shows and especially her family.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2025.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m.

Y.A. Joseph will officiate and interment will follow at the American Legions Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale, West Virginia.
