George Edwin Sanders of Elkins West Virginia, age 77, died on Monday, April 7, 2025, at home under the care of Mountain Hospice. He had been ill for several months.

He was born on May 13, 1947, at Buckhannon, West Virginia, to William Edward Sanders and Jesse Arbogast Sanders, both deceased.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue White Morrison Sanders, whom he married on Oct. 19, 1997.

He is also survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Akers from Waldorf, Maryland, and Mindy Marie Sanders of King George, Virginia; and two stepdaughters, Sabrina Talkington (Dariel) and Stephanie Coberly (Mike) of Elkins, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Akers, Brittany Sanders and Alfonso Diaz; and one great-granddaughter, Mikylie Johnson.

Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Joseph Sanders and Rodney Sanders; four sisters, Lynn Shaw (Matt), Pamela Ruiz (Robert), Nancy Sanders (Larry) and Sandra Littleford (Billy); and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Bette Pagliaro; and his first wife, Bonnie Sanders

George graduated from high school in Maryland and attended Prince George Community College for two years. His first job while still a teen was at a Country General Store in Maryland, he then worked as a civilian employee at the Post Offices located at the U.S. Coast Guard on Capitol Hill, and the Navy Yard from 1968 to 1973. where he delivered mail to all the buildings on Capitol Hill. He worked as a plumber in the Waldorf. Maryland. and DC area until 1992 when he had an accident and had to close his business. He moved to West Virginia, where he lived on the family farm on Kanawha Run Road at French Creek, West Virginia. He moved to Elkins, West Virginia, in 1997 when he married his wife, Linda.

He enjoyed working with his hands making things and doing small plumbing jobs. He loved riding his bike and would ride several miles a day until he became ill in 2024.

Viewing will take place from 11 a.m. until noon, Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Elkins Family Worship Center.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, from the church, with Bishop Jamie Estep officiating.

Interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the building fund at the Elkins Family Worship Center, P O Box 21, Elkins, WV or to Mountain Hospice, 1002 South Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Goerge.
