Louis Eugene (Lee) Endler

ENDLER

Louis Eugene (Lee) Endler, 75, of 303 Custer St., Belington, passed away on April 12 at his home with his wife and son by his side. He had fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for nearly three years.

Lee was born on March 4, 1950, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Eugene F. and Angelina Martello Endler.

On Aug. 2, 1981, he was married to his loving wife, Donna Yeager Endler, who survives at their home. They would have celebrated their 44th anniversary this summer.

Also surviving is his beloved son, Graham Endler of Bridgeport, West Virginia.

He is also survived by many, many dear cousins including Patty Greco of Fairmont, and a host of friends, many of who shared his love of vintage cars.

Lee attended schools in Newport News and graduated from Homer L. Ferguson High School. He attended Southwood College in North Carolina before following his parents back to their hometown of Fairmont in 1977. He began his career working for the A & P Tea Company, becoming manager of several stores in the area before their closing. He then returned to college and completed his B.S. degree in Business and Accounting in 1984 at Fairmont State University. Lee worked for several area businesses and CPA firms as an accountant/controller. Upon retirement he established a small part-time tax practice until his illness.

Lee was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Philippi serving on the Parish Council. He was a member of the Belington Kiwanis Club, serving two terms as president. He formerly served on the Barbour County Board of Parks and Recreation. Currently he was the treasurer of the Barbour County Community Foundation. For many years Lee enjoyed his time as a member of the Belington Brass, a group of local men who played music for various functions in Barbour and surrounding counties. His clarinet contributions added a flair to the brass sound.

Lee had a passion for British sports cars spending many hours driving and restoring his treasured cars and tinkering in the garage. He had a love of music, especially classical, enjoyed playing the clarinet and guitar, was a model train enthusiast, and was a collector of stamps and miniature sports cars. His passing leaves an empty spot in the hearts of many.

The family would like to thank the nurses of Mountain Hospice for their compassionate, friendly care and support over the last weeks.
