Michael Ramsey Carter, 71, a resident of Huttonsville, passed from this life Friday, April 4, 2025. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.

Michael was born Saturday, June 27, 1953, in Jacksonville, a son of the late Mitchell L. Carter Jr. and Janis Evans Carter.

On June 18, 2005, in Mill Creek, he was married to the love of his life, Audrey Lynn Barb Carter, who survives. They had celebrated 19 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish Michael’s memory three sons, Ronnie Gallups and wife, Danielle, Michael Shane Carter and wife, Ashley, and John Paul Pritt and wife, Angel; one daughter, Cheryl Pritt and husband, Hank; one sister, Darlene Wilkinson and husband, Randy; 16 grandchildren, Kalee and husband, Daniel, Kaden, Ethan, Raelynn, Ayden, Christian, Levi, Nevaeh, Charliegh, Virginia, Blaise, Marc, Addison, Bailey, Abel, John Jr., and Taylin; two great-grandchildren, Hadlee and Ella Claire; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Carter; one niece, Amanda Wilkinson Lowery; and one grandson, Lance Thompson.

Michael was a graduate of Paxon Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He had been a truck driver for 40 years between driving in Georgia and West Virginia for various companies and had recently been employed with NWH Transportation. He was full of life and full of himself most of the time. He considered himself “King Carter — Grill Master.” He was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour.

Pastor Roy Schneider will officiate, and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.

The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Michael Ramsey Carter.
