Monzell Gene Stalnaker

He was born on Feb. 8, 1941, at Philippi, West Virginia, a son of the late Monzell Ralph and Mardene Lee Bolyard Stalnaker.

He was united in marriage on Dec. 15, 2000, to the former Sandra Lou Shreve, who preceded him in death March 9, 2012.

Left to cherish his memory is one son, Eric Stalnaker and wife, Becky, of St. Joseph, Michigan; two step-children, Missy Cross and Mike Sturm, both of Belington; and one sister, Danny Jones, of Philippi; and grandchildren, Brooklyn Sturm and Katelyn Cross.

Gene was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1959. He previously worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator, lastly employed with Poling Trucking. He was a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF&AM, OES 41 of Philippi, and belonged to the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Tygarts Valley 39, he belonged to the DeMolay Commandery 11 the Knights of Templar. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Union, Operating Engineers Union and the Labor Union. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Per Gene’s request, cremation will be honored.

Interment of his cremains will be in the Marsh Cemetery at Tacy at a later date, where the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF&AM will conduct the Masonic Ritualistic Burial Rite.
