Samuel Joseph ‘Sammy’ Staud

STAUD
Samuel Joseph “Sammy” Staud was born June 8, 2006, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia. He passed peacefully at home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on April 18, 2025.
He was the youngest son of Joseph Michael and Julie Consla Staud.
Sammy was the beloved brother of Rachel Susanne Staud of Elkins, Thomas Joseph Staud, Sarah Kathryn Staud and Adam Joseph Staud, all of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by loving grandparents, Tom and Paula Staud of Elkins; uncles, Benjamin Staud (Krista Denny) of Morgantown; Robert Consla (Christa) of Trumbull, Connecticut; Michaelo Consla of Natrona Heights, Pennslvania, and aunt, Becky Bowen (Cloyd) of Columbia, South Carolina.
Preceding him in death were grandparents, Delores Gowetski Wassam and Thomas Patton Consla.
Sammy was born with “special needs” and has been a special light in the lives of his family, teaching them and everyone he encountered about innocence, love and joy. His autistic “quirks” would often endear him to complete strangers. He taught us all about unconditional love and faith.
On Wednesday, April 23, the family will receive friends at St. Brendan Catholic Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial with Father Jim O’Conner presiding will follow at 11 a.m. with interment at St. Brendan Cemetery.
The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Samuel Joseph “Sammy” Staud.
