William Hinchman Sr.
HINCHMAN
William Hinchman Sr., 73, a resident of Norton, passed from this life Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
William was born Nov. 7, 1951, in Elkins, a son of Mary Wiseman Scott and the late William Jackson Hinchman.
On February 13, 1971, at Weaver, he was married to Lynette Jean Tusing Hinchman, who preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2025. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish William’s memory are three children, William “D.J.” Hinchman Jr. and wife, Katherine, of Junior, Jeff Hinchman and wife, Angie, of Norton, and Fallon Jones and husband, Charlie, of Terra Alta; three brothers, Greg Hinchman, Jack Hinchman and Lawrence Hinchman; two sisters, Marion Dennis and Susan White, all of Elkins; four grandchildren, Francesca, Dale, Jeffery and Hayley; eight great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding William in death besides his wife and father was a sister, Brenda Carr; and an infant brother, David Allen Hinchman.
William attended the schools of Randolph County. He later worked in the coal mines, but he had spent the majority of his working career at Fox’s Lumber in Mill Creek as a head sawyer. He enjoyed cutting and busting firewood, tinkering with automobiles and the occasional round of poker. He loved his family and spent time helping them on various projects in which he was always the first to arrive and that last one to leave. He was loved and will be missed greatly.
William’s request for cremation will be honored with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date.
The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for William Hinchman Sr.
