Dottie was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School in the class of 1953. She was an operator for C&P Telephone Company and worked as a receptionist for Mongold Lumber Company, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the PTA, the Home Demonstration Club, and the Harts Chapel Church.
Dottie is remembered as someone who fiercely and faithfully loves her family, friends, and neighbors. All who were welcomed into her home were greeted by her kindhearted presence, endless and effortless conversation, and delightful zucchini bread. Dottie’s immense love of children and motherly nature is ever-present, never passing up on an opportunity to spend time with or talk about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When Dottie’s loved ones were asked for a word or phrase to describe her it sounded like this: “One of a kind, faithful, resilient, devoted, loquacious, spunky, stubborn, sweet and sassy, vibrant, and never at a loss for words.”
Dottie’s family is requesting that people who attend her celebration of life wear colorful clothing to honor her vibrant personality.
