Janet Rae Shelton Skidmore Talbott

Janet was born on Monday, June 29, 1942, at Cheat Bridge, West Virginia, a daughter of the late William Raymond Shelton and Lillian Irene Daft Shelton.

She was twice married. First, on May 26, 1961, in Randolph County, she was married David Eugene Skidmore, who preceded her in death July 26, 2013. She was then married to Kenneth Talbott Jr., who survives in Elkins.

Also left to cherish Janet’s memory are three children, Teresa Shields and husband, David, David Skidmore and wife, Karen, and Brian Skidmore and wife, Kristie; two sisters, Gloria Miller and Kathy Moore; three sisters-in-law, Christina Shelton, Sharon Shelton and Virginia Shelton; six grandchildren, Ashley Ryan and husband, Matthew, Tara Koontz, Brooke Price and husband, Josh, Zach Koontz, Elliott Shields and Ethan Shields; seven great-grandchildren, Gunner Ryan, Dominic Koontz, Paisley Ryan, Novaleigh Ryan, Atlee Ryan, Randi Price and Shields Price; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and first husband, Janet was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Koontz; six siblings, Sandra Brown, Wilbur “Bud” Shelton, Dorothy “Dottie” Durante, Nancy Shelton, Jerry Shelton and Robert “Bob” Shelton.

Janet attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked for Beta Shoe Company, Reidboard Brothers, Heck’s Department Store, Wilfong’s Market and retired from Kroger. A devout Christian, she will be missed by her family and friends.

Janet’s request for cremation was honored.
