Alfred ‘Butch’ Marshall Nesbitt
NESBITT
Alfred “Butch” Marshall Nesbitt, 76, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Monday, June 16, 2025, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, West Virginia.
He was born Jan. 27, 1949, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Roy Edward and Mary Gwendolyn Dean Nesbitt.
On Sept. 1, 1990, he married Patricia Joann Phelps, who preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2023.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Marshall Armentrout and Roy Wade Nesbitt, both of Buckhannon; one daughter, Pamela Ann Coughlin of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Kristen Torres and husband, Andrew, of Elkins, West Virginia, and Alayna Nesbitt of Buckhannon; one grandson, Wade Nesbitt of Enterprise, West Virginia; two great-grandsons, Tripp and Anthony Torres, both of Elkins; one sister, Roberta Anderegg and husband, Keith, of Buckhannon; one niece, Shelly Whitfield of Alabama; five nephews, Chris and Andy Anderegg, both of Buckhannon, Brian Phelps of Alabama, Jamie Jackson of Kansas and Mike Jackson of Nebraska; and his beloved dog, Maggie and mule, Lilly.
Mr. Nesbitt served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and finished his military service with the 4th Infantry Division — 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Brigade LRRP’s. He was a Christian by Faith and a Construction Superintendent by trade. He had a love for horses and cars, especially Classic Chevys.
In honoring Mr. Nesbitt’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Friends will be received for a memorial gathering Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., from the funeral home, with Pastor Holt Poling officiating.
The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the funeral home.
