Arthur Lee ‘June’ Stewart

Mr. Arthur Lee “June” Stewart, 91, a resident of Belington, departed this life Monday afternoon, June 23, 2025, in the St. Joseph’s Hospital at Buckhannon. Death was following a short unexpected illness.

He was born April 2, 1934 at Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Arthur W. Stewart and Bonnie Lea Huffman Kimble.

He was married twice, first to the former Evelyn M. Coberly in 1955, who preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1994, and second to the former Constance Joan Ware-Payne in 1996, who preceded him death on Nov. 12, 2019.

He is survived by three sons, Leonard “Beaver” Stewart and fiance, Tonya Long, of Belington, Ron Stewart and wife, Mary Beth, of Stowe, Ohio, and Michael Stewart and wife, Paulette, of Uniontown, Ohio; one daughter, Alice Cook and husband, Russell, of Clyde, Ohio; two sisters, Penny E. Longville and husband, Richard, of Madison, Indiana, and Lois Clingerman of Elkins.

Additional survivors include his K-9 companion, Chippy; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Neil “Ray” Stewart; two brothers, Robert William Kimble and Lee Willard “Squeak” Young Sr.; two sisters, Shirley Hare and Carolyn Daft; and a grandson, Justin Cook.

Arthur attended the schools of Randolph County and attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Belington. He was formerly employed by US Gasket and Shim Company for 25 years and he was also the former owner and operator of Stewart Sanitation from 1980 to 1997.

He was an NRA member and an avid donator of worthy causes. Arthur was very passionate and very enthusiastic about supporting the Belington Fire Department, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Friday June 27, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
