Catherine Mae ‘Kate’ Shreve Teter

Catherine Mae “Kate” Shreve Teter, 93, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Kate was born Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1931, in Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Forrest R. Shreve and Addie R. Rosencrance Shreve. On Dec. 22, 1965, she married Robert K. Teter, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, Patricia Kaye Miller and husband, Gary, of Elkins, Debra Lynn Dumire of Elkins and Roberta Katherine Johnson and husband, Richard of North Carolina; grandchildren, Brian Bender, Cynthia Miller (Scott), Laura Vest (Chad), Gary Miller Jr., David Dumire (Chanda), William Dumire, Seth Johnson, Robert Teter (Tera), Alan Teter (Tonya) and Renee Heckel (Jay); several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Retha Mae Shreve and (Gary) of Elkins.

Preceding Kate in death besides her parents and husband was one daughter, Brenda Elaine Bender; siblings, Kenneth Shreve, Richard B. Shreve, Carolyn Keller, Mona Marie Shreve and Margaret L. Shifflett; and one stepson, William “Bill” Teter.

Kate attended school in Morgantown and then obtained her GED after having her children. She had been employed as a waitress at the Mayflower, White Front, and Seneca Trail restaurants.

Kate enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, crafting and working puzzles. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Otterbein Church and the Joy Circle.

Kate’s request for cremation was honored. A gathering of family and friends will held at the Randolph Funeral Home Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1 until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Pastor Cindy Roberts will officiate, and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.

The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Catherine Mae Shreve Teter.
