Roger Lee Collins

COLLINS
Roger Lee Collins, 80, a resident of Montrose passed from this life Thursday, June 4, 2025, at his residence. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Roger was born on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1944, in Dailey, a son of the late Arch Collins and Opal Lambert Collins. He was never married.
Left to cherish Roger’s memory is a daughter, Becky Owens of Elkins and Michael Collins of California; three grandchildren, Nick Owens, Jenna Collins and Aiden Collins; a sister, Eula Smith of Elkins; a special niece, Angie Miller; and her grandchildren, Autumn, David and Torin; several nieces and nephews; and special lifelong friend, Gail Meeker of Ohio.
Preceding Roger in death besides his parents were three siblings, Harry Lambert Sr., Eloise Miller and Esther Shannon.
Roger attended the schools of Randolph County and obtained his GED. He had served with the U.S. Army and during the 1990s, the Veterans Administration awarded diplomas from local high schools to veterans of that era. Roger was proud to say that he received two high school diplomas.
He had worked as a truck driver for RH Armstrong. He had quite the personality and enjoyed doing voice over impersonations like the characters from the Dukes of Hazzard, Tommy Boy and Crocodile Dundee. He enjoyed owning and riding motorcycles, and he liked to watch westerns. He was a Baptist by faith.
Roger’s request for cremation was honored. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5 until 7 p.m.
The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Roger Lee Collins.
