Ruth Virginia Canfield Carr

Ruth was born Wednesday, Feb. 16, 1938, in Montrose, a daughter of the late John Howard Canfield and Goldie Cross Canfield. She had married Hancel Darrell Carr, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are three children, David Darrell Carr, Margareta M. Cross and husband, Fredrick, and Brenda Stark, all of Montrose; grandchildren, Teresa Blosser, Ashley Watson, Michelle Reid, Melinda Karlen, Brendan Stark, Angela Rosier, Darrell Shahan, Crystal Haden, Barbie Warner and Daisy Mae Carr, 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ward Canfield of Kerens.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were siblings, Elwood, Charles, Sanse Canfield, Sylvia Saxburg, Genevieve Stark, and Norma Lawrence; one great-grandson, Billy Arbogast; brother-in law, Billy Joe Stark, daughter-in-law, Dixie Lee Carr; and special friend, Delores Morrall.

Ruth attended the schools of Randolph County and was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed listening to Country music, square dancing, and playing cards. She was the life of the party! Most of all, Ruth loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She attended the Pentecostal Church at Rosendorf.

Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home Friday, June 6, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Rev. Adam Snyder will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
