Richard S. Harman
Richard S. Harman, born Aug. 19, 1942, in Harman, West Virginia, died July 3, 2025, in Virginia Beach, the city he loved and called home for more than 40 years. He was in declining health.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater College in Virginia, and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Harvard Law School. He was a lawyer in Norfolk, Virginia. He enjoyed participating in the Unitarian Universalist church.
He is survived by his brother, John (Becky) Harman; sister, Karen Ewing; son, Steven Harman; daughter, Shannon (Steve) Kauffman; and his two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Snyder Simon Harman; mother, Anna Myers Harman; brother, Dan Harman; and sister, Judy Harman. Richard donated his body to science via the Virginia State Anatomical Society.
A private ceremony with family only will be held at a future date. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater assisted the family during this time.
