Bertha Mae Price VanScoy, 82, a resident of Huntington, West Virginia, departed this life Monday afternoon, Aug. 25, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at Huntington, West Virginia, with her loving family at her side.
She was born Saturday, Febr. 13, 1943, at Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Ovie Lester Price and Velma Grace Hedrick Price.
She was married to Thomas Garland Shehan Jr. and Leonard VanScoy, both preceding her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Garland Shehan III and wife, Dawnelle, of Arkansas, Kenneth Scott Shehan and wife, Donna Marie, of Kentucky, Stephen Price Shehan and wife, Ken Cherie, of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Thomas Garland Shehan IV, Lindsay Grace Brown, Austin Lee Shehan, Kenneth Scott Shehan, Elizabeth Grace Young, James Randall Kelley, Matthew David Kelley and Alyson Nicole Beard; five great-grandchildren, Elijah Beard, Evelyn Shehan, Cora Shehan, Thomas Garland Shehan, V, and Luke Shehan; one brother, Wayne Lee Price and wife, Phyllis, of San Bernadino, California; one very special cousin, Mike Price and wife, Eileen; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one son, John Walter Shehan.
She was a graduate of Anne Arundel High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Marshall University. She retired as an RN at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington West Virginia. She loved baking and was a wonderful cook. She enjoyed crocheting and listening to country music.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Rev. James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.
