Paul Vernon Mason, 79, a resident of Parsons, passed from this life on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, in Mon General Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in declining health however, death was unexpected.
Paul was born Sunday, July 28, 1946, in Parsons, a son of the late Arlie Vernon Mason and Frances Mary Wilson Mason.
On Feb. 28, 1966, in Hambleton, he married Pearl Fay Huffman Mason, who survives. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Left to cherish Paul’s memory are two sons, Michael Paul Mason and wife, Donna, and Paul Woodrow Mason and companion, Merry Tompkins; four grandchildren, Jimmy and wife, Breanna, Alex, Arin and Jesse Mason; two great-grandchildren, Averlee Carpenter and Dacey Alexander; four sisters, Katy Ends, Sandra Long and husband, John, Wanda Day and Rosemarie Phillips and husband, Randy; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Paul in death besides his parents was a sister, Alice Dye; two brothers-in-law, Ray Dye and Lawrence Ends; and a niece, Judy Phillips.
Paul graduated from Parsons High School with the Class of 1965. He had been employed at Parsons Footwear, Jim Propst, Woody Price Sawmill, Dorman Mills and Mettiki Coal. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering outdoors. Paul loved spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour.
Rev. Donna Bolinger will officiate and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery.
