Ralph ‘David’ Waybright

Ralph “David” Waybright, 76, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 2025, at the Davis Medical Center Emergency Department. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected.

He was born Tuesday, April 19, 1949, at Thornwood, West Virginia, a son of the late Delbert Waybright and Sherron Calhoun Waybright.

He was twice married.

First, to Marie Bond Waybright, who survives at Elkins.

Second, on April 6, 2003, at Elkins, he was married to the former Melinda Dawn Yeager, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeremiah David Waybright of Elkins and fiance, Sheena Everson Bosley, of Buckhannon and Andrew Zephaniah Waybright of Elkins; four grandchildren, Jeremiah David Waybright II and Caressa Nicole Waybright, both of Elkins, and Alexia Holmes and Bre’Auna Bohon, both of Belington; one great- granddaughter, Scarlett Bohon of Belington; mother and father-in-law, Florida and Steve Woofter of Weston; two sisters-in-law, Patty Bryant of Arizona and Irene Bryant of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Preceding him in death are three brothers, Charlie Bryant, Harold and wife, Hope Bryant, and Richard Bryant.

He was a graduate of Greenbank K-12 School with the Class of 1968. He studied Agricultural Mechanics at West Virginia University and obtained a Forestry Degree.

David was the owner and operator of Waybright Excavating, retiring July 14, 2025. He had an excellent work ethic and took pride in his work. He was passionate about working out at the YMCA and the Total Training Fitness Center, enjoyed camping, watching westerns and was excellent at cooking and grilling. David was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

He attended the Landmark Baptist Church, truly loved the Lord and always kept the faith.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 8, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Dr. Ken Shiflet will officiate and interment will follow at the Arbovale Cemetery at Arbovale, West Virginia.
