Chad Eric Carpenter

CARPENTER
Chad Eric Carpenter, 50, formerly of Belington and more recently of Huntington, West Virginia, departed this life Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025, in Braxton County from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Carpenter was born March 6, 1975, at Elkins, West Virginia, the son of Larry James and Karen Sue Herron Carpenter, who survives in Belington, West Virginia.
On May 16, 2025, he was united in marriage to the former Stephanie Miller Shy, who survives at their home in Huntington, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his children, Tylin Carpenter and wife, Hannah, of Volga, West Virginia, Bai Carpenter and wife, Carly, of Florida, Callie Carpenter of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Erica Bailey of Huntington, West Virginia, Samantha Carpenter of Lexington, Kentucky; and step-daughter, Shawna Williams and her husband.
Additional survivors include one sister, Crystal Suder and husband, Mike, of Belington; two grandchildren, Kyler and Lincoln; three step-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Jennie Miller, of Huntington; father-in-law, Kenny Miller; sister-in-law, Lauren Reed; and brother-in-law, J.R. Reed.
Several cousins, aunts and uncles and a whole host of friends also survive.
Chad was a 1993 graduate of the Philip Barbour High School and was a disabled veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy. Chad was formerly employed with CSX Rail Systems, was a licensed electrician and member of the I.B.E.W. Electrician Union. He was very active and helpful in his Huntington community, and would give his shirt off his back. Chad had a huge heart and was so concerned with those who struggled with addiction.
He had future plans of opening up his own recovery organization to help those who are struggling with addiction.
In the words of his wife, Stephanie, “At the time of Chad’s passing, he was living his best life. He was loved very much and he loved his children very much. He will be deeply missed, but he will be honored and cherished everyday.”
Chad will definitely leave a void in this world and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street, Belington, WV 26250 on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, from noon to 3 p.m., when a funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by the U.S. Navy, and the American Legion Post 96 of Belington.
Cremation will then follow.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Animal Friends of Barbour County, 320 Valley Bend Road, Belington, WV 26250.
