John Roy Hebb

John was born Thursday, Jan. 30, 1941, in Rowlesburg, a son of the late Blaine Lipscomb and Evelyn Lucille Hebb Lipscomb.

On Aug. 15, 1964, in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, he married Brenda Joyce Evans Hebb, who survives. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Also left to cherish John’s memory are four children, David Hebb and wife, Kelly, of Morgantown, Kevin Hebb and companion, Karen Ball, of Parsons, Marina Wolford and husband, Mike, of Leadmine, and Ashley Hebb and companion, Neil Dragovich, of Davis; six grandchildren, Kayla Roth, Josh Herron, Zac Wolford, Jon Hebb, Drew Hebb and Britni Ball; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Lipscomb and Kent Lipscomb; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding John in death besides his parents was a brother, Emery Lipscomb.

John attended Rowlesburg schools and later obtained his GED while serving with the U.S. Army. John had been employed as a coal miner for more than 40 years, having worked for Mettiki Coal Company, Island Creek Coal Company and retiring from Consol Energy. He was a member of Mt. Top Hunting Club. John enjoyed riding his Harley, side-by-side, 4-wheel races, hunting and fishing. He was a Methodist by faith. John loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.

Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., the funeral hour.

John’s request for cremation will then be honored.
