Robert Brian ‘Bob’ McElwain

Robert Brian “Bob” McElwain, 72, a resident of Kerens, West Virginia, departed this life Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25, 2025, at the Holbrook Healthcare Center at Buckhannon, West Virginia. He had been in declining health.

He was born Thursday, July 2, 1953, at Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles Rease McElwain and Geneva Cayton McElwain.

On Dec. 21, 1990, at Elkins, West Virginia, he was married to the former Anna Anita Phillips, who survives.

Also surviving are one brother, Charles McElwain and wife, Leona, of Kerens; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law including his favorite, Louanna Summerfield of Hendricks; special niece, Jessica Vandavender of Kerens; favorite nephew whom he thought of as a son, Brian McElwain of Kerens; nephew’s wife and caregiver, Linda McElwain of Kerens; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1971 and attended Mechanics School. He had worked as a mechanic for K-Mart and was a volunteer firefighter for the Leading Creek Fire Department for 20 years. Robert enjoyed welding and loved his wife very much.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road, Elkins, West Virginia.
