Ronald Martin Miller Sr.

MILLER

Ronald Martin Miller Sr., affectionately known as “Dude,” went to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones, just as he preferred to be in life.

Born on Sept. 27, 1937, in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was a loving son of the late Marion Miller and Mabel Bonner Miller. He was preceded in death by his seven siblings Marie Webb, Myron Miler, Carla Carr, Roberta Carr, Wilma Freidhoff, Ava Miller and Marion Miller. He loved being in a large tight knit family, remaining close with his siblings for all their days.

When he met Alberta “Darlene” Lansberry in Alexandra, Virginia, they fell in love. Dude’s generosity and kindness swept Darlene off her feet. They were married for 62 years and she survives him now.

Darlene and Dude were blessed with a large family. They had five children, Marie (Danny) Barr, Danial Miller, Marty Miller, Connie (James) Buchanan and Melissa Miller. The house was as hectic as you can imagine with five children, they didn’t have a lot of money, but they had a lot of love.

That love continued to grow because Dude and Darlene were blessed with 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. All survive him and remember him fondly.

Dude worked for the Merchant Marines with the Cleveland-Cliffs steamship company on the Peter White bulk freighter on the Great Lakes as a coal passer and an oiler. He also held jobs as a police officer, boring mill operator, logger, farmer and other various fields throughout his life. Dude worked for over 25 years for Quail Ridge as a general foreman.

Dude was a Christian and he loved the Lord. He also loved Country and Bluegrass music, reading, puzzles, hunting and fishing. He loved helping people and would often go out of his way to help others. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Church for 24 years. He was a great friend to many.

Dude was a loving man and was a wonderful son, brother, father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss him terribly.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday Oct. 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Justin Jones will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.

The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Ronald Martin Miller, Sr.
