Clifford "Wayne" Jones, 83, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home. He had been in declining health.
Wayne was born Thursday, March 12, 1942, in Parsons, a son of the late Adam and Eva Harsh Jones.
On Jan. 8, 1977, at Salisbury, Pennsylvania, he married Dorothy (Dottie) Ann Deal Jones, who proceeded him in death on March 11, 2004.
Left to cherish Wayne's memory is a son, Jeffrey Wayne Jones and wife, Jennifer, of Burlington; a daughter, Eva "Leann" Jones of Parsons; five grandchildren, Adam, Isaac, Braxton, Laila, and Gracelyn; two brothers, Keith "Skeeter" Jones and wife, Susie, of St. George and James Jones and wife, June, of Wheeling; a sister, Lorraine Raines of Onego; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Wayne in death besides his parents and wife was a sister, Vera "Pauline" Phillips; five brothers, Billy, Clifton "Earl", Donnie, Dutch and Cecil Jones; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Raines.
Wayne graduated Parsons High School with the Class of 1960 and served with the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years with Buffalo Coal Company. Wayne was a past member and president of the Hendricks Ruritan Club and was also a Shooting Sports Instructor for 4-H and a 4-H All-Star. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reloading shells and spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne was a Presbyterian by faith.
Visitation will be held at the Hostetler Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour.
Rev. Matthew Deal will officiate, and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
