Paulita Louise Phillips Cousin

COUSIN

Paulita Louise Phillips Cousin, 54, a resident of the Mackeyville Community, Hambleton, West Virginia, departed this life early Thursday morning, Nov. 6, 2025, at the WV Caring Hospice Center at Elkins, West Virginia, surrounded by her loving family. She had been in declining health.

She was born Monday, Aug. 16, 1971, at Parsons, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Lonnie Leon Phillips and Mary Lee Dumire Phillips, who survives at Hambleton.

On March 9, 1996, at Davis, West Virginia, she was married to Jake Cousin, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lonnie Marshall Phillips and Jakob Cordell Cousin, both of Mackeyville; two sisters, Lora A. Evans and husband, Edwin "Bud", of Parsons, Vera V. Moran and Bruce Moran of Mackeyville; uncle, Gene Dumire of Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Cousin and wife, Lisa, of Davis; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; cousins; her extended family at Blackwater Falls; and her church family.

Paulita had many friends and was loved by everyone.

Preceding her in death are two sisters, Sherry L. Phillips and Mary Lynn Phillips.

She was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the Class of 1989 and obtained her associate's degree at Garrett College. She had worked at Blackwater Falls for 30 years as a park naturalist and recreational director. She attended the Mackeyville Community Church. She had a love for nature and her animals and enjoyed bird watching and hiking.

Paulita was very family-oriented and loved her family immensely.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, Saturday. Nov. 8, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Rev. Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Goff Cemetery at Mackeyville, West Virginia.
