Raymond Price Swecker
Raymond Price Swecker, 87 of Norton, Virginia, formerly of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Holston Valley Medical Center following a medical procedure. He was the husband of the late Georgetta Tabitha Wamsley Swecker for 62 years.
Raymond was born in Elkins, West Virginia, to the late Arlen Frank Swecker and the late Mary Magdalene Swecker.
He is a 1957 graduate of Tygart Valley High School in Mill Creek, West Virginia, after which he served honorably in the United States Army from 1959-1962. He is a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Coeburn, Virginia. Raymond worked for Mead Corporation (later known as RockTenn) in Lynchburg for 37 years. From the days of his youth, Raymond enjoyed the outdoors both hunting and fishing and never failed to regale you on his adventures and life on the farm. Special thanks are given to Pam Perry as Raymond’s caregiver for the past couple years.
Raymond is survived by one son, Mark Swecker (Sarah) of Saint Paul, Virginia; one daughter, Amie Bradley (Steve) of Bryan, Texas; four grandsons, Tyler Swecker, Evan Swecker, Benjamin Bradley and Colin Bradley (Emily); one great-grandson, Keagan Bradley; and one great-granddaughter, Lilyanne Bradley.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Marston Swecker and Ronal Frank Swecker.
The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sturgill Funeral Home, 310 6th Street, Coeburn, Va.
Funeral services will follow, from the chapel, with Pastor Brandon White officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am., Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, in the Greenwood Acres Cemetery Coeburn, Virginia.
The family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
