Roy ‘Allen’ Wilfong

WILFONG

Roy “Allen” Wilfong, 70, lovingly known as “Papa”, a resident of Montrose, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at home surrounded by family and friends and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

Allen was born Monday, July 30, 1955, in Elkins, a son of the late Leroy Allen Wilfong and Bessie Canfield Wilfong.

On Aug. 7, 1982, in Elkins, he married the former Brenda Arbogast, who survives at home.

Also left to cherish Allen’s memory are two children, Patrick Allen Wilfong and wife, Shannon, of Montrose and Allison Dawn Wilfong of Montrose; four grandchildren, Aiden Michael, Annaleigh Michelle, Audrey Makenna Ashlyn Meredith; and many honorary grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding Allen in death besides his parents were two brothers, Michael Douglas Wilfong and Randy Lynn Wilfong; and one grandson, Jack Allen Wilfong.

Allen was a graduate of Elkins High School. He had been employed at Mountaineer Sports, Labcraft and retired from Colonial Millworks as the plant manager. Allen enjoyed hunting, gardening, and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking; his specialties were swings, tables, and many other crafts. He and Brenda had a hobby making fishing lures that they called B&A Lures.

Allen loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing games, joking with them and swapping fishing stories. Papa cherished his time spent with Aiden, making lures and loved beating Annaleigh in Old Maid. Ashlyn and Audrey loved helping take care of Papa and being his nurse.

He loved his community, friends and neighbors who would lend a hand of support in times of need.

Allen was a member of The Refinery Church in Elkins.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Elkins Fresenius Kidney Clinic and the National Kidney Foundation for the special care they showed him during his journey over the last 10 years.

Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
