Wilma Jean Rogers

She is survived by her two sons, Bradley Thompson and his wife, Christie, of Clayton, North Carolina, and John “J.W.” Jones and his wife, Amanda, of Elkins.

Wilma was a devoted grandmother to Kelcey and Cameron Thompson of Clayton, North Carolina, and Kourtney Jones of Buckhannon, West Virginia, three grandchildren she adored dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe “Tom” Thompson and Mary Thompson of Elkins, as well as two brothers, Randy Thompson of Tennessee and Tommy Thompson of Ohio.

Wilma is also survived by her brothers, Ronnie and Roy Thompson of Elkins; and her sisters, Dottie Sites of Seneca Rocks, Debbie Snyder of Elkins and Brenda Hyre of Buckhannon.

Wilma dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked as the Activities Director at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, where she brought joy and comfort to many residents. Later, she joined Randolph County EMS as an EMT-B, retiring after 16 years of service. Her commitment to her community extended beyond retirement, as she also served as an EMT-B at both Randolph County EMS and Upshur County EMS. Wilma was deeply loved by her co-workers, who affectionately referred to her as “Wilbur” or “Nannie.” Wilma’s life was filled with love for her family, friends, and community. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Curlie Ray, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
