Harold J. Gainer

He was born June 23, 1938, at Kerens, a son of the late John H. Gainer and Ethel Harsh Gainer. On April 26, 1963 at Mountain Lake Park, Maryland, he was married to Delores Jean McDonald, who preceded him in death Oct. 13, 2015.

He is survived by two sons, Robert H. Gainer and Noah A. Gainer, both of Kerens; one daughter, Angela D. White of Kerens; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Boyd, Robert, Kenneth, Ronald, David and Joseph Gainer; and one sister, Alice Vandevender.

Harold was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1956. He retired from the Harrison County Power Station and was a member of the Laborer Foreman for Local 984 Laborers Union of Clarksburg, West Virginia.

He loved to hunt, fish, ginseng, playing the guitar, gardening and playing bingo.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2025 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kevin Gainer officiating. Cremation will follow.
