James Thomas “Tommy” Parks, 81, a resident of Kerens passed from this life Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.
Tommy was born Monday, May 1, 1944, in Pineville, Kentucky, a son of the late Arthur Parks and Maude Belle Hobbs Parks. On June 26, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was married to the former Rebecca Diane “Becky” Snyder, who survives. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish his memory is one daughter, Trisha Parks-Walter of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren, Kara Nicole Parks, Jonathan Knight, Cassandra Parks, Brandon Abrams, Summer Parks, Curtis Parks, Isabella Faith Parks, Haylee Parks, William Thomas Parks Jr. and James Thomas Parks; five great-grandchildren, Laloni, Michael, Kai, Willow and Bowie; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Tommy in death besides his parents were two sons, Curtis Allen Parks and William Thomas “Bill” Parks; two brothers, Charles and Gary Parks; four sisters, Billie Sue Brown, Margaret King, Mary Swisher and Phyllis Parks; and one granddaughter, Autumn Marie Parks.
Tommy attended the schools of Kentucky. He had worked building railroad parts at the same factory for over 40. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, and going fishing. He was a very quiet and kind soul who loved his family and spending time with them.
Tommy’s request for cremation will be honored. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
