William Lee "Bill" Poling, 82, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life Monday evening, Dec. 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of WV Caring. He had been in declining health.
He was born Monday, April 12, 1943, at Fairmont, West Virginia, a son of the late Harry Estel Poling and Pauline Grace Stevens Poling.
On Dec. 14, 1963, at the Baptist Church in Parsons, West Virginia, he was married to the former Ruth "Janet" Carr, who survives. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Also surviving are three sons, Harry Lee Poling and wife, Kari of Holly Meadows, Kevin Douglas Poling and fiance, Debbie Brammer, of Aurora, and Eric Glenn Poling and wife, Rita, of Ohio; two brothers, Ray Poling of Elkins and Robert Wayne Poling of Cannon Settlement; one sister, Linda Hinkle and husband, Donald of Ohio; three grandchildren, Ashley Louk of Harman, Erica Poling of Elkins and Aslynn Poling of Parsons; one step- grandson, Gunnar Miller and wife, Jennifer, of Parkersburg; and two great-grandchildren, DJ Louk of Elkins and Isabella Poling of Maryland; one step-great-granddaughter, Charlee Miller of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death is one grandson, Shawn Eric Poling.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School. He had worked for Kingsford Charcoal Co, Hinchcliff Lumber Co. and for Pete Frazee Lumber Co.
Mr. Poling drove school bus for 41 years for the Tucker County Board of Education. He was very mechanically inclined, enjoyed tinkering and could fix about anything. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, but he especially cherished the time he spent with his family and his grandkids.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at 11 a.m.
The Rev. Justin Jones will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.
