Cheryl Ann Wheeler-Thomas

She was born Saturday, Nov. 6, 1943, at Elkins, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Ralph Thomas Wheeler and the late Hilda Cora Gum Wheeler.

In 1974, she was married to Owen Thomas, who preceded her in death Oct. 4, 2013.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1961, received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia University and during May of 1968, she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence at the West Virginia University College of Law.

She then served as an Assistant Attorney General from 1968 to 1972.

Cheryl then moved to Denver, Colorado, where she worked for the legislature and clerked for an Appellate Judge in the Colorado Court of Appeals.

After passing the Colorado Bar she worked for a law firm in Denver. Cheryl then moved to McLean, Virginia, where she opened her private practice, specializing in criminal law. She then returned to West Virginia in 1988.
