Jeff Cameron Varner

VARNER

Jeff Cameron Varner, 66, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at his home.

He was born Dec. 22, 1959, at Clarksburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Alfred Cameron and Constance Phillips Varner.

He is survived by his sister, Jennifer L. Varner of Elkins; one uncle, Robert (Sut) Phillips of Belington; several cousins from Lagrange, Ohio, and the Belington areas.

Also preceding him in death, along with his parents, were maternal grandparents, Eustace E. (Tubie) and Virginia Dare McGaughey Phillips; paternal grandparents, Alfred Varner and Olga Jane Bowers Varner Young; and step- grandfather, Alfred Q. Young.

Jeff was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1978 and had retired from Elkins Kroger’s, where he had worked for 30 years. He was an avid bear hunter, deer hunter and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel.

Pastor Dewaine Corley will officiate and interment will follow at the K of P Mountain View Cemetery near Junior, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Mountaineer Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, PO Box 1891, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Jeff.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Jeff Cameron Varner.
