Mr. Joseph George Charnoplosky Jr., 75, a resident of the Audra Road near Belington, departed this life early Saturday morning Jan. 17, 2026, at his home surrounded by his devoted wife and children who had done so much for him throughout his illness.
George, as everyone called him, was born Jan. 3, 1951, at Buckhannon, Upshur County, West Virginia, a son of George and Dorothy Lee (Smith) Charnoplosky, who both preceded him in death.
On March 13, 1970, He was united in marriage to the former Tippi Lou Flint, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his two children, John Richard Charnoplosky and companion, Cindy Widecki, of Roanoke, Virginia, Lori Lynn Charnoplosky of Raleigh, North Carolina; and bonus grandchildren, Blake and Arlena.
Brothers surviving are Tony Charnoplosky of Bridgeport, West Virginia, and Philip Charnoplosky of Clarksburg, West Virginia; nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John A. Charnoplosky, who lost his life in the Vietnam War in 1971.
In 1968, George joined the United States Army spending five months stateside for basic training, 21 months in Germany and then 10 months in Vietnam. In 1971, he started employment for Barbour Coal Company, where he stayed for 15 years as an equipment operator. He then went to work for MEPCO LLC of Morgantown, West Virginia, where he was an equipment operator, foreman,and lastly a superintendent. George then retired in October of 2012.
He was an avid turkey hunter and hunted various other game, George lived to hunt. He was a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF & AM, and a member of the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi, West Virginia.
George was a devoted member of the Weaver Church of the Nazarene and loved his Lord with all his heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Per George's request for cremation will be honored.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the Weaver Church of the Nazarene from 10-11 a.m. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the church with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams officiating.
The Interment of his cremains will follow in the Concord Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Harrison County Honor Guard.
George requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Weaver Church of the Nazarene Building Fund PO Box 122 Junior, WV. 26275.
