Mary V. Updike, 101, a resident of Mill Creek, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at the Keyser Stone Health Medical Center in Keyser, West Virginia.
She was born Nov. 26, 1924, at Marlinton, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George See and Robbie Ellen McCormick Smith.
On June 1, 1940 at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Dale Updike, who preceded her in death March 1988.
She is survived by one son, George D. Updike and wife, Ruth, of Hurricane, West Virginia; one daughter, Carolyn F. Tingler and husband, David, of Romney, West Virginia; five grandchildren, William Updike, Jeffrey Tingler, Cecelia Updike White and Shelley Daughterty; and six great-grandchildren, Jared Tingler, Spencer Updike, Ethan Updike, Spencer Daughtery and Peyton and Pierce Daughtery.
Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Eric Tingler; and one sister, Margaret Eubanks.
Mary was a homemaker.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday from the funeral home chapel.
Pastor Cindy Morgan-Roberts will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mary Virginia Updike.
