Melvin Robert Perry Sr., 88, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at his home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Henry Charles and Pauline Garland Koon Perry.
On Aug. 9, 1969, he married Naomi Margaret Boggs who preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 2017.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Kay Baisden; one grandson, Larry Lee; three sisters, Ava May Perry, Zelma Lee Upton and Barbara Perry; one son-in-law, James L. King; and three brothers-in-law, Arthur and LeRoy Bennett and Scott Davis.
He is survived by two sons, Melvin Perry Jr. and wife, Holly Marie, of Buckhannon, and Stephen Perry and Flossie Marsh of Weston, West Virginia; two daughters, Nancy I. King of Buckhannon and Debbie Friend and husband, Larry, of Weston; 10 grandsons; seven granddaughters; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold Wayne Perry and wife, Carol, of Buckhannon and Charles "Mac" Maxwell Perry and wife, Iris, of Tallmansville, West Virginia; three sisters, Wilma Jean Bennett of Haltom City, Texas, Wanda Lue Bennett of Buckhannon and Alma Waveline Davis of Cheraw, South Carolina; one son-in-law, James Baisden of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Perry was a production manager. He served in the U.S. Army from March of 1956 until March 1959. He attended the Full Gospel Church.
Friends will be received Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, West Virginia.
The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct full Military Honors.
