Neal Wade Phillips, 65, a resident of Buckhannon, passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
Neal was born Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1960, in Harman, a son of the late Robert "Steve" Phillips and Emma K. Mallow Phillips.
On June 12, 2010, he was married to the former Kathy Jo Hamric, who survives in Buckhannon. They had celebrated 15 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Neal's memory are six children, Heather Hill and husband, Michael, of Belington, Shawn Phillips and wife, Sandra, of Lumberport, Remington Phillips, Eva Phillips, Easton Phillips, and Ellie Phillips, all of Buckhannon; one sister, Sheila Moyer of Beverly; two brothers-in-law, Robbie Hamric and wife, Jennifer, and Andy Hamric and wife, Danielle, all of Normantown; father and mother-in-law, John and Flora Hamric; three grandchildren, McKenzie Phillips, Riley Phillips, and Kelsie Hill; six nieces and nephews, Robbie Moyer, Zachery Moyer, Tristan Hamric, Chassity Cooley, Bentley Hamric and Hayden Hamric; and a great-nephew, Levi Moyer.
Preceding Neal in death besides his parents were his maternal grandparents, Dayton and Eva Mallow; his paternal grandparents, Paul Phillips and Emma Sullivan; and a brother-in-law, Robert Moyer.
Neal was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1978 and received an associate's degree in nursing from Davis & Elkins College. Starting at the age of 16, he volunteered for several fire departments and was an honorary member of the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department.
He had worked as a hospice nurse and had retired as a registered nurse at Stonewall Jackson Hospital although he continued working part time.
Neal had a warm and joking personality known among family and friends as well as his patients. He didn't know a stranger. Vacations at the beach, Christmas, and evenings on the patio were some of Neal's favorite times spent.
He adored his family and kids and enjoyed coaching kid's softball. Neal could be seen riding his "buggy" everywhere. He was a Christian man and attended South Buckhannon Union Mission Church.
Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at 11 a.m.
Rev. Ed Lowther will officiate, and interment will follow in Beverly Cemetery in Beverly.
The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements of Neal Wade Phillips.
