Sandra Ann Erickson Sanders, 84, who was born April 28 of 1941 in Elkins, West Virginia, to Ida Margaret Roach Erickson and Joseph Walfrid Erickson, passed peacefully at home in Elkins, West Virginia, on Jan. 8, 2026.
Surviving are her family, her son, Gregory Allen Sanders and daughter, Stephanie Ida Sanders; a daughter-in-law, Karin Joan Looney-Sanders; and six grandchildren, Mara, Ivan, Sage and Rane Looney-Sanders of Elkins, and Dylan and Madeline Millard of Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
Also Surviving is her brother, Bob (Janice) Erickson of Erie, Colorado.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Norma Charlotte Erickson, Betty Jane Dransfield, Margaret Ida Whiteman, Leola Bond and Ethel Pauline Thurman; one brother, Joseph Frederick Erickson; and her beloved husband of 52 years, Thomas Joseph Sanders.
Sandra devoted 30 years of dedicated service to Columbia Gas Transmission, where she was known for her professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her role as a receptionist. Beyond her career, she enriched her community through her work as a fitness instructor at the YMCA, inspiring others with her energy and passion for wellness. She also shared her musical talents as a member of the First Baptist Church choir, contributing her voice to the spiritual life of her congregation. A lifelong enthusiast of cinema -- particularly the James Bond series -- Sandra found joy in movies, driving, and traveling to new destinations. Her life was marked by warmth, curiosity, and a generous spirit, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
