Genevieve "Gennie" Joye Arnold Streets, 80, a resident of the Sugarlands Community, Hambleton, West Virginia, left this life and many loved ones behind on Saturday evening, Feb. 14, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones, to join her husband, Bob Streets, who preceded her in death, along with her oldest son, Chuck Canfield, and other family members and treasured friends.
Gennie was born Sunday, April 22, 1945, in Sugarlands, Hambleton, West Virginia, to the late Charles Daniel and Stella Mae Sampson Arnold.
In addition to her parents, Charles and Stella Arnold, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Dale "Bobby" Streets; oldest son, Charles "Chuck" Canfield; along with four brothers, Charles "Tarzan" William Arnold, John Junior Arnold, Leonard Arnold and Harry Arnold; and two sisters, Sarah Mae Bolyard and Barbara Ann Firl.
Gennie is survived by her children, Susan Canfield Plumley, Parsons, West Virginia; Chuck's wife, Cheryl Sentle Canfield, Fayette, Ohio, Iva Canfield Joyner, husband Marcus, Elkins, West Virginia, Howard Canfield, wife Holly, Sugarlands, Hambleton, West Virginia, Angela Streets Bolton, husband Keith, Harrisonburg, Virginia, Eliza Streets McVicker, Thomas, West Virginia, Joseph Streets, Sugarlands, Hambleton, West Virginia; and her many generations of grandchildren; her siblings, one brother, Clyde Arnold and wife, Aggie, Fork Mt, Parsons; three sisters, Floda "Skeets" Anstine, Deep Creek, Maryland, Helen Lyon, Gladston, Missouri, and Mary Dumire and husband, Jim, Petersburg, West Virginia.
Gennie was Brethren by faith and very active in her church. Her love and devotion to God and her family came first and foremost in her life.
She raised seven children and helped raise multiple grandchildren. She loved to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gennie was known to most as mom or granny to not only her own, but to many who came into her life through her children and grandchildren. She claimed them all.
She was an active member in the 4-H Club and the Sugarlands Homemakers Club, along with other activities in the community.
Gennie was a very social person and loved by all she met. She has left an impact on every person she ever came in contact with. She will be missed by all those who know her and most by her children and grandchildren, whom will keep her in their heart always.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The Rev. Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas, West Virginia.
